Thank you for considering a gift to Ionia Area Hospice.
As a nonprofit hospice organization, we rely on and are deeply grateful for charitable and tax-deductible donations. Since 1985, Ionia Area Hospice has been Ionia’s leader and original hospice with over 35 years of experience. We provide kindness, respect, and quality care to the end-of-life for all patients and families in the mid-Michigan area. As your community’s hospice, we are not affiliated with any health care system and provide care for all who seek our services, regardless of ability to pay. That means 100% of your gift will benefit the organization or a project you specify
Whatever gift of money or time you are able to contribute to Ionia Area Hospice, it will be used to help your community to experience care, comfort and support at the end-of-life. Patients and families on our program report their deep satisfaction and gratitude, which is due not only to the excellent care and support they receive but to the many additional services your gifts can provide.
For more information about ways you can make a gift, or how your gift helps hospice make a difference, feel free to contact a member of our Development staff directly. Call, email or contact us anytime. We are here to help!
For your convenience, our taxpayer identification number (TIN) is 38-2306757

Leaving a legacy or planned gift allows you to make a lasting impact on the lives of patients and families while taking advantage of unique tax savings and/or income benefits. The following are the most common types of planned gifts. Donors should consult with their own professional advisors regarding a legacy or planned gift.
A bequest through a will or living trust does not reduce your current income yet enables you to provide substantial future support for a cause you care about. To find out more, click here to learn how to become a member of The 1979 Legacy Society.
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a special tax-exempt trust to which you can give appreciated stock or real estate. The trust then provides you with an income stream for life, and upon your death, all assets remaining in the trust pass directly to Ionia Area Hospice. You also bypass all capital gains taxes on the appreciated property and further receive a current charitable income tax deduction.
A gift of life insurance enables you to make a substantial future gift to Ionia Area Hospice. You can donate a policy you already own that no longer serves its original purpose, a policy you buy to specifically benefit Ionia Area Hospice or a policy in which you name Ionia Area Hospice as a contingent beneficiary.
Using a qualified retirement plan asset such as a 401(k), 403(b), IRA, Keogh, TIAA/CREF or other pension plans may provide another gift option. Qualified retirement plan assets are different from most other assets a person owns. At death, most retirement plans are subject to an estate tax and income tax. Because of the income tax levied on most retirement plan assets when they are transferred, those assets are ideal to fund a charitable gift at death. Please Note: For all types of legacy or planned gifts, we encourage you to discuss your options with your financial advisor or attorney.
Please be sure to use our legal name and address in your estate planning needs. This will help your executor and attorney with the distribution you have planned. For assistance, download our end-of-life planning newsletter: A Reason, A Season, A Lifetime.
Over the years Ionia Area Hospice has received many wonderful gifts from donors who wanted to honor someone. Some of these have included gifts that are used and displayed at our hospice house that is located in Lansing, MI. Rose bushes, trees, shrubs, and plants for Stoneleigh Residence gardens, works of art in all our locations, a new stove in the Stoneleigh Residence kitchen, ornamental quilts, an upright piano, a Lift Aid to move patients, computer equipment, and a number of specially named rooms at the Stoneleigh Residence.
Making a donation in someone’s memory is a beautiful way the honor that person. We have many needs for special gifts and many opportunities for donors. If you would like to make this kind of donation, please contact our Development staff. You can also email us today.
Did you know that many area employers will double, or even triple, the generous gifts their employees or retirees make to Ionia Area Hospice? To find out if your employer matches your gift, please contact your human resources department. If your employer does match philanthropic donations, please send your company’s matching gift form along with your gift to Hospice. We will confirm receipt of your gift by signing the form and sending it back to your employer. We will also send you an acknowledgment of your personal gift.
